NOTICE OF APRIL 7, 2026
UNION STAR BOARD ELECTION FILING DATES
All persons interested in filing as a candidate for the Union Star R-II School Board may do so from Tuesday, December 9, 2025, through Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Filing will take place in the Superintendent’s office, 6132 NW State Route Z, Union Star, MO 64494.
OPEN DATES:
December 9 – 17, 2025 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
December 18, 2025 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
December 30, 2025 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Three directors for a three-year term will be elected in the annual election, April 7, 2026. Those eligible for election must be a U.S. citizen, registered voter, and a resident taxpayer of the district. In addition, those running must have resided in Missouri for one year preceding their election or appointment and must be at least 24 years of age. Upon election, Senate Bill 380 requires each director to complete 16 hours of approved board orientation and training within one year of the date of election.
FILING REQUIREMENTS: Pursuant to 115.342 RSMO Each person that files for an elected position will need to complete FORM 5120 and return it to the Missouri Department of Revenue. This form states: “That under penalties of perjury that they are not currently aware of any delinquency in the filing or payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, or real property taxes on the place of residence, as stated on their declaration of candidacy, or that they are not a past or present corporate officer of any fee office that owes any taxes to the state, other than those taxes which may be in dispute.” This form must be notarized, and a copy returned to the election official. Failure to comply may disqualify you from the ballot. Upon request by the Department of Revenue, the candidate shall provide a copy of tax receipts for the candidate’s personal property, municipal, and real property taxes, and any other information necessary to demonstrate compliance with 115.342, RSMO.
